Mother's Day Gift For Corinne Leung

Mother's Day Weekend and even the week before Mother's Day was very difficult for me. I was thinking so much about Brendan's "mum" Corinne feeling absolutely heartsick. I can't imagine losing one of my children. Although I know B didn't go back home more than maybe once a year, I had a sense that he and his mom were very close. I know from stories Brendan told me, how much she did for him and " she put up with me" as he would say.

Corinne and I were texting this week after Mother's Day and agreeing that Brendan sure was "exasperating". It makes me laugh because I had at least 4 green journals filled with "notes", "complications" "baffling misunderstandings" about Brendan. I was endlessly trying to figure him out. In fact, I would say I created a whole "user's manual" in order for me to understand Brendan!

Corinne wrote me the following:
"Hi Wendy. I saw this post today & thought fondly of you. Yeah, Brendan was tough to pin down in the "I love you" department, but his actions laid all that to rest. You were obviously the center of his universe. And Adolfo & I love you too."

My response to Corinne (other than her text being so touching & flooding tears in my eyes) ended with the following sentence; which by the way I mean with all of my heart~!

"Ha ha! Brendan was definitely exasperating, however I've never felt so rewarded for loving someone to the depths of the ocean and back!"

I had my friend Tina---an amazing quilter---sew all of Brendan's bandanna's together into a quilt cover. Luckily it arrived by Mother's Day.
